Frequently asked questions

Is TrackMyElo free?

Yes — creating leagues, running tournaments, and tracking ELO ratings is free, with no credit card required.

What is an ELO rating?

ELO is a rating system, originally from chess, that ranks players by skill. After each match, points move from the loser to the winner — and beating a stronger opponent earns more than beating a weaker one, so ratings settle around each player’s true level.

What sports and games can I track?

Anything head-to-head — ping pong, chess, pool, darts, foosball, basketball, soccer, video games — plus cumulative challenges like running or push-ups through volume mode. Each sport has a recommended setup guide.

Do players need an account?

No. You can add players by name, and people can join a league or tournament from a shared link or QR code without signing up. A free account just lets them follow standings from their own home screen.

Can I run a tournament?

Yes — single or double elimination brackets, seeded automatically by ELO, with byes handled for you when your player count isn’t a power of two.

What starting rating and K-factor should I use?

The defaults of 1000 and 32 work well for most groups. Fast, casual games (like darts) suit a higher K-factor; serious, high-volume play (like chess) suits a lower one.
